Steven Ross Smith

Steven Ross Smith is a poet, fiction writer and art journalist, as well as a sound and performance poet. He has been publishing books since the 1970s and he was a member of the legendary sound poetry group, Owen Sound. He has published thirteen books and is published in journals, audio recordings and videos, in Canada, USA and abroad. He has given over 200 readings from his work. Smith served as Director of Sage Hill Writing Experience and Director of Literary Arts a The Banff Centre. In the past 18 months, he has been residence for the community of Val Marie, SK, in Grasslands National Park and for the Canadian Authors Association, Alberta Writers Guild and Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture as the University of Manitoba.
